Stereotypes and Assumptions

I am often judged based on my appearance and common stereotypes. For example, people assume that because I am quiet and a little bit shy, I cannot be included or that I do not understand as much. They also think that I cannot talk about things just normally as friends, we only talk when we are assigned in groups. Therefore, we are kind of forced to talk for work purposes. I often think that because I am different, based on looks, for example, I cover my hair so I think that they judge me based on my appearance and the way I look, which really makes me feel excluded and hurt.

This story is a larger issue because I want to bring this to people’s attention. I want to say that we are all humans, and people need to understand that you cannot judge or make assumptions without getting to know people.

How and why are people judged, and what type of stereotypes and assumptions do we make?
